Biography

 
Brian Fitzgerald is the Senior Associate Director of Housing and Residential Life and Associate Director of Facilities. He supports the facilities and operational needs of the various units in Student Auxiliary Services. Additionally, he serves as a contract liaison with Aramark, the university’s dining service partner, and Corvias, the university’s housing partner. He works closely with Facilities Planning and Management with a focus on mutual areas of support and sits on their leadership team.

Brian received his B.A. in public administration and M.S. in criminal justice from Michigan State University and has an earned doctorate in educational leadership from Eastern Michigan University. He also holds a commercial building management certificate from Washtenaw Community College.

He worked at Eastern Michigan University for 27 years, progressing through the ranks of university housing, with interim assignments as the chief judicial officer and director of custodial, grounds, transportation and waste management. He then served three years at the University of Michigan as an associate director of housing facilities. Outside of his work in student affairs and facilities, he is an adjunct faculty member in higher education at Eastern Michigan University and Concordia University in Ann Arbor.

Brian came to Wayne State University in 2016 as the Corvias partnership was developing and construction was beginning on Anthony Wayne Drive Apartments. He supervised the housekeeping and maintenance functions in student housing until Corvias assumed management of those activities. Now he monitors the key performance indicators and supports Corvias’ partnership with the University.
